HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Eggs? Check. Toilet paper? Check. Shaving cream? Check. Machete, spear gun, Transylvanian hashish? Check, check, check. Fog machine, stocking mask, exploding jack-o-lanterns? Check, check and check! I think we’re all set!

Yes yes yes…it’s the best day of the year (‘cept maybe for that one when Ella turned up!) and we would like to extend our very best Halloween wishes to all of our MySpace pals and supporters (Emmett, Captain, Bloodtype, et al.), all the great festival folks and fellow movie makers (Blood Car wassup!), the biz wizards at Magnolia and Magnet, our families and friends and even that knucklehead Billy Z…

May your day and especially your night teem with goblins and ghouls and all shades and shapes of gruesome!

Toronto After Dark Q&A!!!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Is just it me, or does that subject line sound like a porno term? Like “Once Jasmine gets herself cleaned off, let’s get her and Dirk in here and we’ll shoot the Toronto After Dark Q&A scene! And we’re gonna need some more towels, too!”

So last week Murder Party had a sweet showing at the TORONTO AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL and since Jeremy was busy having his C-section and Skei was busy holding his hand and mopping his brow and assuring him it’ll all be over soon, Chris The Brown Knight Hisself  was our rep in the North!

Folks seemed to dig the flick (except for that ol’ sourpuss Billy K.– more on his funky little ass later) and by Chrissy’s description it was a boffo party for the ages. And thanks to RENERD.COM (”Entertainment for the Coming Zombie Apocalypse”) we have some video clips of the after-screening Q&A. Click the links below and when you’re done with that go and check out all the other grooviness that Renerd offers…

ELLA ROSE SAULNIER!!! Seven pounds, three ounces, and cuter than an explosion of kittens!!!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

“It’s alive! It’s aliiiive!!”

With a clap of thunder and an electronic hiss from the Tesla coil…the Creature stirred! The experiment: a success! Using their sinister advanced technology (some wine coolers and an Al Green record)  Skei and Jeremy have indeed managed to CREATE A NEW LIFE FORM!

Adorable Ella Rose was born today with a fully formed mullet haircut and a powerful set of lungs. She is, by all accounts, ready to rock.

Everyone is healthy and in great spirits. Skei’s mother was not at all happy when I suggested that her rap name could be “E-Ro” but other than that it was a truly beautiful scene in the laboratory. Expect some pictures soon and thanks to everyone for the positive vibes and warm thoughts!

OCTOBER 16th: A day that will live in infamy!

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Wait a sec…”infamy” is a bad thing? Why did I think that word meant something like “awesomeness” or “shit yeah”?

Hmm…while I’m consulting a dictionary, let me invite all of you, our friends, to grab yerself a copy of MURDER PARTY, now available on DVD at (many, most) major video chains.

Thanks to the excellent people at MAGNOLIA HOME ENTERTAINMENT and MAGNET RELEASING, our baby is now dressed in some super-sexy packaging and living on a 5.1 Surround Sound/high quality digital transfer  disc. It looks and sounds great (except for all those times we use the word “dildo”) and features lots of fun special features including an extensive making-of documentary, a mildy drunk filmmaker commentary track, bloopers & outtakes, a Make Your Own Cardboard Knight Costume tutorial and more!

You can find the PARTY at Amazon.com, Wal Mart, Best Buy, Virgin Megastore, Netflix, Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, select Borders and Barnes & Noble stores, and many smaller independent “Mom n’ Pop” outlets (we would like to suggest Video Vault if you live in Alexandria, Virginia, or Reel Life if you live in Brooklyn.)

Also, a biiiiig “Thank you!” to the LANDMARK’S SUNHINE CINEMA in Manhattan for having us last weekend for two very successful Midnight Screenings. The projection and sound was absolutely impeccable (double-thanks to ADAM DRESCHER and SUITE SPOT NY for the hardware) and we made many new friends and reconnected with some old ones as big crowds turned out both nights.

So yeah, all in all, these last few days have been real sweet for us. And now Skei will have her baby and our movie’s out on DVD for everyone to enjoy (or not: we still get a cut!) and Halloween’s just around the corner…the good times look like they’ll be here a while! Woo-hoo!

We love you all. Here’s some links:

Fun fun on NEW YORK ONE!!

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Thanks to the efforts of our world-class pimps at JEREMY WALKER + ASSOCIATES (in particular, Dan “Nothin-But-Action” Goldberg) we have now popped up on the local news juggernaut, New York One!

Ace reporter Jeanine “Bun-in-the-Oven” Ramirez met the Murder Party gang at our ol’ Maujer Street location and once the symptoms of our post-traumatic stress syndrome had passed, conducted several in-depth interviews and literally within a few hours, the piece was cut and running on the air. Talk about a professional operation!

Click the link below to see Jeanine’s work, which actually represents our television news debut! (Select the button next to Chrissy’s befuddled face to play the video…)

That was a goosebumper: one of those things that’s so fun and exciting it gives ya goosebumps…hey, New York One is a biiiig deal around here, people!

Thanks and hugs to Jeanine, Dan, and everyone at Jeremy Walker…without whom we would just be standing around in front of an old warehouse we no longer have permission to enter.

Street Team: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO MORE POSTERS!

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Dudes and ladies of the Murder Party Volunteer Street Team!

Your work has been exceptional, absolutely exceptional, and that needs to be at the forefront of this. We cannot thank all of you enough for all the time and energy you have put into promoting our double-midnight screenings at the Sunshine Cinema this weekend.

HOWEVER: it has come to our attention that some of you have been hanging posters on streetlamps. And streetlamps are what? They are property of the City of New York. And City property is a big no-no when it comes to posters.

In fact, our biggest ally and raison d’ etre in this whole affair, the Sunshine Cinema (located at 143 Houston between 1st and 2nd) has already received fines from the Sanitation Department for violating this big no-no and that is unacceptable.

We must insist that all postings on any sort of public property CEASE IMMEDIATELY and for anything that has already gone up BE REMOVED ASAP.

So, to our wonderful, enthusiastic workers on the ground (Jeffy, Marcus, Chang, Jonathan, Bradley, Susan, Barry, Lucas, Roosevelt, Dilly, Berko, Larissa, Stu, all the kids from Johnston Hall, and anyone else they brought along!) we thank you a thousand times and then thank you once again, in advance, for understanding and being cool about this so that we can have a screening unmarred by a low-hanging cloud of fines and tickets.

Best,

M.P.

ROLLING goddamn STONE magazine. ’Nuff said.

Friday, October 5th, 2007

“This is Ben Fong-Torres with Rolling Stone magazine…”

“Um. It’s a think piece! About uh…. low level filmmakers struggling with their first release and the pressures of empty bank accounts!”

“I liiiike it.”
