Who in the heck are RONNA WALLACE and JEREMY WALKER?

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Well, I’ll tell you…

Jeremy Walker is the head of Jeremy Walker + Associates, one of the top public relations firms in the movie biz…recently they’ve done work on For Your Consideration, Cocaine Cowboys, The Descent and The Aqua Teen Movie. Everybody meaning evvverybody knows these dudes.

Ronna Wallace has been in the game for a hot minute. Ever hear of a little movie called Reservoir Dogs? How about Bad Lieutenant? She exec produced those, not to mention the better part of the Silent Night, Deadly Night series. These days she’s known as producer’s rep extraordinaire.

So you’re wondering what do these two indie film luminaries have in common? Yep. It’s Murder Party.

We’re delighted to announce that Jeremy Walker + Associates will be wowing and zowing as our publicity machine and Ronna Wallace will be giving the hard hard sell as our sales rep!  Hell yeah!

We’re both proud and humbled to be in Jeremy and Ronna’s company and look forward to all they’ll bring to the Party.

MURDER PARTY at SXSW!!

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

We love Austin. Love it, love it, love it. If it weren’t for the myriad of parole complications it’d create for us, we’d totally move there.

So naturally we’re all abuzz and a’flutter to announce that MURDER PARTY is screening at the 2007 South by Southwest Film Festival! Three times, no less (click the link at the bottom for times and venues…)

If ever there was a flick that needed- no, that demanded to be watched in a theater that serves hot wings and giant beers, it’s this one. If we return to NYC without a crippling hangover and the meat sweats, we’ll know that we’ve done something wrong.

So please, join us at SXSW…and help us do something right.

VARIETY sez: “…entertainingly crass…quite funny violence…gonzo tone!!”

Hey! Check out this solid review we got in Variety…

Murder Party

By DENNIS HARVEY

A Lab of Madness production. Produced by Chris Sharp, Skei Saulnier. Executive producers, Sharp, Macon Blair, Jeremy Saulnier.
Directed, written by Jeremy Saulnier.

With: Alex Barnett, Macon Blair, Paul Goldblatt, Beryl Guceri, William Lacey, Stacy Rock, Skei Saulnier, Chris Sharp, Beau Sia, Bill Tangradi.

.. end primarycredit –>Winner of the audience award for narrative feature at Slamdance, writer-director Jeremy Saulnier’s debut, “Murder Party,” is an amusingly over-the-top horror comedy about a milquetoast who gets an offer he shoulda refused. Low-budget effort might be a tad marginal for theatrical release, but will score with genre fans at fests and on disc.Office drone Christopher (Chris Sharp) is so personality-deficient even his cat bosses him around. Finding a mysterious Halloween party invitation on the sidewalk, he creates a suitably dorky cardboard knight costume and heads to Brooklyn’s warehouse district. There, a bunch of infighting, pretentious art-school students are indeed hosting a “murder party,” just as billed — and as the only stranger dumb enough to show up, Christopher is the designated terminal art event. Fortunately for him (though he spends most of the night gagged and bound to a chair), others present prove more dangerous to each other than to their planned victim. After an hour of entertainingly crass buildup, pic erupts in a riot of outrageous, quite funny violence that leaves almost no one alive. Punk/metal soundtrack is in keeping with gonzo tone.

Camera (color, Sony HD cam), Saulnier; editor, Marc Beroza; music, Brooke Blair, Will Blair; production designer, Christina Barth. Reviewed at Slamdance Film Festival (competing), Jan. 21, 2007. Running time: 79 MIN.

Thank you, Dennis!!

(Technically speaking, methinks the movie is 80 minutes…but what’s a few seconds between pals?)
